Despite Prince and Rickie each belting one out of the park, the Brewers lost 6-4 to the Royals. I don't mind too much: four of the runs were charged to Allan Simpson. Bush gave up only one in five innings, striking out four in the process. Turnbow gave up the other, though only on one hit, striking out two in the 9th. It was a big night at the plate for Fielder, with two singles in addition to the homer. And Bill Hall played centerfield with aplomb.
Big Ben
Sheets is on the comeback trail, having some trouble commanding the curveball, but hey, that means he's throwing it. Here's the plan for Ben:
I read somewhere that would be Huntsville, but that was probably just speculation. Makes sense, though. I've been saying his first start would be April 17th, but I guess I got it wrong: we're looking at April 16th. Which is awesome for me: the Crew is in NYC that weekend, and I will be there. As much as I'm excited to see Dave Bush pitch, I didn't think I'd have the chance to watch Sheets.
The Roster
Another day, another move (or two). Kane Davis has been put on unconditional release waivers. It's really too bad he was such a good guy in the clubhouse, or else I could've made a joke about the Kane Mutiny. Because, you know, the other jokes are taken. Also, Zach Sorenson has accepted his triple-A assignment, which is probably smart, since the organization seems to like him, and an injury to any infielder probably means he gets called up.
I can't stop typing
- Eric has a nice review up of the movie I mentioned the other day.
- Adam McCalvy has a new mailbag up, with some Vinny Rottino love.
-
Kevin Millar convinced Leo Mazzone to get a tattoo. You can't make this stuff up. Though I do try.
- If you didn't already check it out, take a peek at my Brewers pitching preview at Beyond the Boxscore.
- Today: Doug Davis, in his last spring start, against Freddy Garcia and the White Sox, this afternoon at 2:05 CT. Only on the web.
- Five days till Brewers Opening Day!
Update [2006-3-29 10:1:12 by Jeff]: Too bad we didn't have space on the roster, because Davis really has a Kane-do attitude. Thank you, I'll be here all week.
