Francisco Liriano/Cole Hamels

Francisco Liriano, aka The Best Pitching Prospect In Baseball, has been moved into the Twins' rotation. The Twins got Liriano in their version of the Richie Sexson deal, trading A.J. Pierzynski to the Giants for Liriano, Joe Nathan and the heroically-named Boof Bonser. Pierzynski left the Giants after one tumultuous year, while Nathan has been one of the best closers in baseball the last two years, Liriano has an incredibly bright future, and Bonser has, well, a really awesome name.

Anyway, this is especially notable because Liriano is now slated to make his first Major Leauge start on Friday against the Brewers, the day after they face another uber-prospect, the Phillies' Cole Hamels, who pitched rather well in his debut. Regardless of how the Brewers do, it will be a great couple of games simply from the perspective of a fan of the game.
