Lots of minor-league roster shuffling in the last day or so. Top prospects Ryan Braun and Yovani Gallardo were promoted to AA Huntsville from High-A Brevard County. As you may have noticed from John's Minor League Reports, Huntsville is in the midst of a rather dreadful run, so hopefully the talented new blood with perk the team up a bit.
Interstingly enough, Gallardo was placed on the Temporarily Inactive List, for reasons unclear, though it doesn't seem to be a big deal. Steve Hammond was also placed on the TIL.
Adam Heether, who was having a very disappointing year at Huntsville, was demoted to Brevard County, trading places with Braun.
The promotion of Chris Barnwell to the majors has had an effect down through the low minors, as Ozzie Chavez was promoted from Huntsville to AAA Nashville to replace Barnwell, Guilder Rodriguez is back up in Huntsville, where he played through May before being demoted to Brevard County, to take the place of Chavez, and Ryan Crew was promoted from Low-A West Virginia to Brevard County for Rodriguez. (Aside: How cool would it be if Ryan Crew and Brent Brewer both made it to the big club at some point?)
Lastly, intriguing 2B prospect Kenny Holmberg was activated from the DL and will rejoin West Virginia; apparently the leg-lengthening operation was not a success and Kenny is still 5'9".
