Jeremy Jeffress, Brewers 1st Round pick, is signed!

Here's the official story:

A day after making him the 16th overall pick in the First-Year Player Draft, the Brewers agreed to terms with high school right-hander Jeremy Jeffress on a Minor League contract. The deal was announced on Thursday, and the team intends to send Jeffress to the rookie Arizona League for the start of his pro career.

The deal was completed at Jeffress' home in South Boston, Va., on Wednesday night pending a physical. Jeffress will be in Milwaukee on Friday for that formality, and afterward will work out at Miller Park with the Brewers.

"The sooner you get them out there, the better off they all are," said Brewers scouting director Jack Zduriencik, who has already announced seven signings from the 50-round draft, which took place via conference call on Tuesday and Wednesday. "We like him to get the instruction from coaches right off the bat."

Good work, Mr. Z!
