Here's the press release. Excerpt:
The Milwaukee Brewers announced today that shortstop J.J. Hardy will undergo season-ending surgery. The surgery will be performed this week in Milwaukee by head team physician Dr. William Raasch.

Hardy will undergo a retinacular repair to stabilize the peroneal tendon in his right ankle. The expected recovery time is three to four months.
