The Carlos Sweepstakes

A new entrant:

A consensus emerged: This scrappy Twins team is pretty good. But imagine how good it would be if they traded for a power-hitting left fielder.

Alfonso Soriano's name was mentioned. An even better fit, those scouts said, would be Carlos Lee.

The Twins have long coveted Lee, and now there is talk in baseball circles that the Milwaukee Brewers will move him if they continue losing before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

The Twins have eleventy-billion quality pitching prospects (at least two more than the Yankees do, anyway), so I hope Doug Melvin is on the phone. You know, right now.
