Rosenthal thinks it's possible.
It's one of the more realistic scenarios floated so far--it didn't occur to me until recently, but the Padres don't have much in LF. They were considering signing Bonds (bet they're glad they didn't do that now!) and claim they're headed into the season with a Terrmel Sledge/Jose Cruz Jr. platoon.
I don't know what effect Petco would have on Geoff's bat--I mean, his offensive production would be limited, but everybody's is in that part, so that's not the issue--but if Jenkins bounced back to the point where he could play stellar defense, San Diego would be a great fit for him. It's a cavernous park, and he'd fill out an already impressive defensive outfield including Brian Giles and Mike Cameron.
