Rich Lederer has an interesting piece on pitchers' ground ball rates and strikeout rates. Ben Sheets finds himself (as usual) amidst the very best pitchers in baseball. The third worst is our old friend Victor Santos.
MLB Trade Rumors keeps tabs on Darin Erstad. As I pointed out in my post right below this one, I don't think we need a CF, or a backup CF, or anything that Erstad can provide. But Darin is only 33 next year, and if he recovers from his latest injury, he'll still be a solid defender with the potential for league-average offense. If Bill Hall were going to be, say, our opening day third baseman, I wouldn't mind taking a million dollar flyer on Erstad.
Here's my Hall of Fame ballot, over at Beyond the Boxscore. Marc Normandin also wrote one up.
