The Other Melvin

Sounds kind of like a band name, right?

(Not as good as TheJay's band name, though.)

It doesn't happen very often, but I learned something new from the Journal-Sentinel just now.  Many of you probably know this, but I didn't: Arizona manager Bob "No Moustache For Me" Melvin spent some time in the Milwaukee organization between his playing days and his managing days.  I wasn't paying too much attention to baseball in those years, so somehow I missed the memo that Melvin was a bench coach here.

What I did know, of course, was that Bob interviewed for the job that became Ned Yost's.  It's probably for the best: no team should have similarly named GMs and field managers.  But then again, once could argue (and one has) that no team should have Ned Yost as a field manager.

Anyway, I'm still rooting for the Rockies.
