I made a second appearance on the Big League Baseball Report podcast today, this time talking about advanced stats such as OPS, ERA+, VORP, and what to look for in a pitcher.
Here's the link, if you want to hear me jabber away for a while on those topics. Providing a background like this is a really good idea--I may try to design some kind of audio series doing a more thorough and organized job of it. (That isn't a knock on Joe at the BLBR--just a reflection of the limitations of that format.)
There are a lot of people out there talking about really advanced stuff in even more esoteric language, but not a whole lot of efforts to make it accessible to anybody who isn't willing to dive in at the deep end. Let me know if that sort of thing would interest you, and/or if you have any ideas for what you'd like such a program to include.
