Unless Dan Kolb finds another home in the central, we won't be able to beat up on him all summer long:
Dan Kolb will not make the Pirates' bullpen.
The Pirates might not quite have the worst bullpen in baseball, but they certainly had some roster spots up in the air; that Kolb couldn't get a job there isn't a good sign for him landing with another MLB team.
Management informed him late last night that it would not place him on the 25-man roster by the midnight deadline stipulated in his minor-league contract, and Kolb will exercise his right in that contract to declare free agency today.
Unless Kolb has something against the Pirates now, it'd probably be a good idea for him to stick it out in the minors for a while. I would imagine it's more likely a spot will become available for him in Pittsburgh than with most other teams.
