Game Thread #32: A Bad Sign

Here's the lineup for tonight:

  • Weeks, 2B
  • Hardy, SS
  • Fielder, 1B
  • Hall, CF
  • Estrada, C
  • Mench, RF
  • Jenkins, LF
  • Graffanino, 3B
  • Capuano, P
Three guesses what that bad sign is, and the first two don't count.  Matt Chico, while not a good pitcher, is lefthanded.  Jenkins is 2 for 15 against lefties this year, and his line against LHPs last year was 133/265/214.  Maybe Yost saw how bad Nats left fielders were and wanted to even the playing field.  I don't know.

What I'm most worried about is that Jenkins will have a good (or lucky, or whatever) night against this starter who ought to be in Triple-A, and from that point on, Corey Hart will be a glorified fourth outfielder.  I really don't want to believe that that's Ned's dream, but tonight's lineup makes me worry.  A lot.

Then again, it's the Nats, and we've got an All-Star against a guy who might not be an All-Star in the minors this year.  We can afford a few mistakes.  But when we start playing good teams, those mistakes are going to start to cost us.

All that negativity aside...Go Brewers!
