For all the hoopla around here about Gallardo's MLB debut, Giants fans have a pitcher worth getting excited about, too. (Plus, he's on my fantasy team, just not active tonight.) Tim Lincecum has mixed great starts (10 K's in 7 innings, no earned runs against the Astros) with ugly ones (7 ER in 3.2 IP against the Blue Jays) since getting the call in May. Fortunately for us, it's been more of the negative lately.
So, Lincecum should be fun to watch. But not as much fun as Ben Sheets, who will resume his domination of the National League after his brief digression of beating an AL team last week. His 5.2 inning outing in Detroit was his shortest since April, and he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs since his third start of the year. Wow!
Best of all, Ned seems to have realized what an asset Gallardo could be: Yo is batting seventh and playing left field. Or not. That was just wishful thinking on my part. Less encouragingly, Counsell is giving Hardy the day off, batting second, with Weeks still in the 8-hole.
Go Brewers!
