Game Thread #106: Salvage Operation

Not only has Yovani Gallardo inherited Ben Sheets's spot in the rotation, he's also taken over the role of stopper.  Let's hope he keeps pitching just as well as our other ace this afternoon.  We need it.

Kip Wells is starting for the Cards.  Looks like the roster isn't changing at all at least before today's game, which is something of a surprise.  Doug has said he's going to stick with 13 pitchers for a little bit, but I would've expected him to swap out Parra for a fresh arm (McClung? Bray? Sarfate?  I guess our options aren't great) after Manny's start yesterday.  It's not like Parra is going into the rotation...unless, I suppose, Ned is fed up with Capuano, which would seem like an overreaction at this point.

Anyway, I'm not going to be a very happy camper if the Crew loses another one this afternoon.  We're going to take the division lead into another week no matter what happens, but I'd much prefer 1.5 or 2.5 games of breathing room than a pathetic half-game.

Go Brewers!
