Home Run Derby Open Thread

Here's the MLB.com home page for the derby.

It's Prince versus a field consisting of:

  • Vladimir Guerrero
  • Matt Holliday
  • Ryan Howard
  • Justin Morneau
  • Magglio Ordonez
  • Albert Pujols
  • Alex Rios
I really wish this were something the players took more seriously.  It's nice, I guess, that some lesser-known players get to participate, but it'd be much cooler if Bonds and A-Rod took part every year.    There are TEN active players with 400+ home runs, and...none of them are in the derby.

Oh well.  It'll still be fun to watch, and I suppose keeping all the legends out of it makes it more likely our man wins.
