After losing two of three to the Twins to open a nine-game homestand, the Brewers now need to take two of three from the Mets to finish the stretch at 5-4. Tonight, they'll send Braden Looper (5-4, 5.16 ERA) to the mound to try to get started.

Looper hasn't factored in the decision in four of his last five starts, and took the loss in the one exception. He has a 7.18 ERA during that stretch, and has allowed opposing batters to hit .301/.339/.549. Looper, of course, was a Met in 2004 and 2005, when he recorded 57 saves. In his ten other seasons, Looper has pitched very well against the Mets, posting a 2.35 ERA in 47 appearances.

For the Mets, it's 26-year old Fernando Nieve, making his fourth start. Nieve has been very effective in the big leagues, posting a 1.31 ERA in 20.2 innings. He faced the Brewers three times in 2006 as a member of the Astros, and went 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA in nine innings. On the season, he's posted a 0.968 WHIP.

Craig Counsell is back in the lineup tonight:

Craig Counsell 2B
