Y'know what's even better than getting to untuck your shirt after a victory? Untucking your shirt after a victory that brings you back into a tie for the NL Central lead. The Brewers have a chance to do that tonight as Yovani Gallardo takes on Adam Wainwright.
Gallardo is 3-3 since June 1, but hasn't really deserved any of those three losses. He's posted a 2.04 ERA over that stretch and struck out 49 batters in 39.2 innings. He fanned a career high 12 in his last start, but took a 1-0 loss. If there's a downside to Gallardo's recent performance, it's that he's throwing a ton of pitches: 114 in his last start, and 110, 105, 116, 107 and 118 in the five starts before it. It's possible efficiency is the only thing that's missing from his game.
Adam Wainwright (8-5, 3.32) hopes to continue his domination of the Brewers in 2009. Wainwright is 1-1 against the Crew in two starts, but has allowed just two earned runs and struck out 16 in 15 innings. Wainwright also ran into some tough luck his last time out (against the): He pitched nine innings, allowed just one run and struck out 12 but received a no-decision.

Tom also notes that the Brewers won't seein this series, as the Cardinals placed him on the DL today with a wrist sprain.
