I would not have guessed Ross Ohlendorf (10-8, 4.30) already had ten wins, but here he is, leading the Pirates in victories despite being average or below in more or less every other statistic. He's won his last two decisions and, while he's been unspectacular, has picked up quality starts in each of his last four appearances. The last time he didn't pick up a QS was back on July 20 when he beat the Brewers anyway, allowing two earned runs in five innings.
He'll face Manny Parra (8-8, 6.44), who has won his last four starts (and five of six) despite posting a 6.48 ERA and allowing opponents to hit .342/.398/.468 against him in his last 25 innings of work. The Brewers are just 8-12 in Parra's starts this season, but he's picked up the win in every Brewer victory. Only four current Pirates have ever faced Parra, and Lastings Milledge (2-for-4 with a double and a walk) is the only one who's faced him more than twice.
Thankfully, Manny Parra on the mound means Mike Rivera behind the plate: (h/t McCalvy)
