The Brewers have lost three straight games, and dropped to five games below .500. Can they end the slide tonight and get revenge against the Pirates, who swept the Brewers in their last meeting and have beaten the Brewers in five of their last six matchups?
Follow the jump for tonight's pitching matchup, lineup and conversation on tonight's game!
Zach Duke (10-11, 3.38) represented the Pirates in the All Star Game this season and has been the staff workhorse, putting in 173 innings already this season, the eighth most in the National League. Duke has posted a 2.91 ERA in his last three starts, and has lasted seven innings or more in each of them. This is Duke's first matchup against the Brewers this season, but he's posted a 4.70 ERA in 69 innings against the Crew in his career. Current Brewers have faced Duke a combined 94 times and hit .310/.363/.417 off of him. Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder have each taken him deep once.
Meanwhile, Manny Parra (8-10, 6.54) has fallen back into some of the habits that got him in trouble earlier this season. Despite having spent nearly a month in the minors, Parra leads all NL pitchers with 85 earned runs allowed. He's posted an 8.40 ERA in his last three starts and allowed opposing batters to hit .375/.418/.722 off of him in that stretch. His 1.846 WHIP this season is the highest ever posted by a Brewer who's pitched more than 100 innings.
