As is becoming expected, the Brewers were presented with a Yovani Gallardo start and a day game, and put the bats away.

Wandy Rodriguez shut the Brewers out for seven innings today, allowing just five hits and two walks while striking out three. Jeff Fulchino (.2 innings) and Jose Valverde (1.1 for the save) closed the Brewers out and the Crew lost their opportunity to inch over .500 for the first time in weeks and have a winning road trip for the first time since May.

Yovani Gallardo had a very good game in his own right, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks in seven innings, and throwing 110 pitches for the fifth time in six starts. Both runs scored on a Geoff Blum home run in the fourth inning, the only runs scored by either team in the game.

At the plate, the Brewers' seven hits were spread out over seven hitters, with Felipe Lopez (1-for-3 with a walk) the only Brewer to earn his way on base twice (although Jason Kendall was hit by two pitches) and J.J. Hardy (1-for-3 with a double) the only Brewer with an extra base hit.

The Brewers threatened in the ninth, with Jason Kendall getting a leadoff HBP and Jody Gerut following it with a pinch hit single, but Felipe Lopez flied out to left, Mike Cameron struck out looking and Ryan Braun was called out on strikes to end the game.
