Back to back wins would be a nice way to kick off the holiday weekend.

Barry Zito (9-11, 3.94) is having a much better season than you'd assume based on the way people talk about him. He's certainly not worth one of the most lucrative contracts in baseball history, but I think most teams would take a guy with a sub-4 ERA over 160 innings at this point. Furthermore, he's been really good lately, allowing just one earned run over his last three starts and going 3-1 with a 1.93 ERA in August. Ryan Braun is 4-for-10 in his career against Zito, and all four hits went for extra bases.
Meanwhile, Jeff Suppan (6-8, 5.20) is about as bad as advertised. He pitched out of several jams en route to a victory while allowing just one earned run over six innings last time out, but still allowed eleven baserunners in six frames, raising his WHIP to 1.757, second highest in all of baseball among pitchers who have recorded 100 innings this season. (Manny Parra has the highest, at 1.840.) Bengie Molina has hit .348/.375/.565 in 24 plate appearances against him.
Since recalling J.J. Hardy, the Brewers are 0-2 when he starts and 1-0 when Alcides Escobar starts, so perhaps it's good news that Alcides is back in the lineup tonight: (h/t Tyler Barnes)
Felipe Lopez 2B
Jason Bourgeois RF
Ryan Braun LF
Prince Fielder 1B
Casey McGehee 3B
Mike Cameron CF
Jason Kendall C
Alcides Escobar SS
Jeff Suppan P
