Arizona: Mesa 7, Surprise 5

  • Jeremy Jeffress: 0 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K

Jeffress faced the first four batters in the ninth as Mesa mounted a six run rally to walk off with the win.

The Javelinas also lost yesterday, so Surprise remains two games back with eight to play.

Phoenix 7, Scottsdale 4

  • Dan Merklinger (SP, Phoenix): 3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 3 K
  • Justin James (Phoenix, Save #2): 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K

This was Merklinger's second start since changing teams. This MLB.com story says the move was made to fill a gap on Phoenix's roster.

Phoenix is 7-16 and 7.5 games back in the AFL American division with eight games to play.

Mexico: Culiacan 5, Mexicali 3 (13 innings)

  • Luis Cruz (2B, Mexicali): 1-for-6, BB, 2B, RBI

Brendan Katin remains on Mexicali's roster but hasn't appeared in a game since October 19.

Culiacan is 11-13 and in seventh place, four games back.

Dominican Republic: Cibao 8, Licey 5

  • Erick Almonte (3B, Cibao): 1-for-4, BB, RBI, R

Escogido 2, Toros 1

  • Carlos Gomez (CF): 1-for-3, BB, 2B, R

The double was Gomez's second extra base hit in his last nine games.

Escogido is now 9-6 and two games back of first place. Cibao is 5-10 and six games back.

Puerto Rico: San Juan 8, Carolina 4

  • Sergio Miranda (2B): 2-for-4, BB, RBI

At 9-4, San Juan is in first place by half a game.
