Game Thread #6: Cardinals (4-1) at Brewers (2-3)

The Brewers try to save face today, well the Cardinals attempt to (blech) sweep our beloved team. Milwaukee has suffered to bad losses in a row to the Cards, one on a late homerun and another getting blown away early in the game.

Randy Wolf (1-0, 5.40) didn't have quite the first start that we were hoping for, but he pitched well enough for the win. Against the Rockies, he pitched a healthy 6.2 innings, but gave up four earned runs. He did have eight strikeouts as well. Four Cardinals hitters have had more than 15 plate appearances against wolf. Here's how they've fared:

Player Average OBP SLG
Jason LaRue .273 .360 .500
Felipe Lopez .333 .391 .429
Albert Pujols .313 .368 .375
Matt Holliday .313 .389 .688

Chris Carpenter has been a top three Cy Young vote-getter his last three healthy years with the Cardinals. He has faced three current brewers more than ten times:

Player Average OBP SLG
Craig Counsell .278 .350 .278
Prince Fielder .364 .417 .636
Jim Edmonds .333 .412

.400

Todays lineup:

Weeks 4
Edmonds 8
Braun 7
Fielder 3
McGehee 5
Hart 9
Kottaras 2
Escobar 6
Wolf 1

Jim Edmonds is playing center field and that is stupid.
