Apparently playing the Pirates is the cure for what ails the Brewers.

In what could easily be considered the Brewers' most complete game of the season, the Crew jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and Dave Bush took it from there, pitching seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and four walks, and striking out four. He needed just 96 pitches, marking the third straight start he's been pulled before 100. He's needed just 14.4 pitches per inning in his first three starts.

Unfortunately, the Brewer bullpen couldn't preserve the shutout. Chris Narveson allowed two doubles in the eighth, allowing the Pirates to plate their first run. Narveson has now pitched in eight of the team's 13 games this season (on pace for 99.7 appearances), and allowed a run in each of his last five appearances.

He was followed to the mound by Manny Parra, pitching in the fourth consecutive game. He allowed a leadoff single, got a ground out, then forced a double play to end the game.

At the plate, Rickie Weeks (2-for-3 with a walk and a triple), Alcides Escobar (2-for-3 with a walk and a double) and Ryan Braun (1-for-3 with two walks and a double) were all on base three times. Gregg Zaun went 0-for-5 and was the only Brewer starter who didn't reach base safely.

With the win, the Brewers are 3-2 in night games and 3-5 in day games. They play a night game again tomorrow.
