Jeff Suppan (0-0, 7.20 ERA in 2010, 7-12, 5.29 ERA last season) is making his second start of the 2010 season, and facing the Cubs for the second time. Last time out, he allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk in five innings of work, striking out four and allowing two home runs. Counting that start, he's allowed 13 home runs in his last 12 starts, or roughly 1.92 per nine innings of work. His ERA over that time is 6.93. Ten Cubs, including his mound opponent tonight, have faced him at least ten times:

Player PA AVG OBP SLG OPS
Derrek Lee 65 .426 .523 .889 1.412
Aramis Ramirez 51 .234 .294 .383 .677
Alfonso Soriano 49 .196 .245 .370 .614
Ryan Theriot 28 .296 .321 .333 .655
Kosuke Fukudome 21 .214 .476 .429 .905
Xavier Nady 19 .250 .368 .500 .868
Marlon Byrd 17 .375 .412 .625 1.037
Geovany Soto 15 .250 .400 .750 1.150
Mike Fontenot 14 .385 .429 .462 .890
Ryan Dempster 10 .111 .111 .111 .222

He'll face off against Ryan Dempster (1-0, 3.15 in 2010, 11-9, 3.65 last season), who has already beaten the Brewers once this season. Dempster picked up the win despite allowing five runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings on April 12. It was the only start of the season so far where Dempster has allowed multiple runs. So far in 2010, he's struck out 20 batters in 22 innings, and walked just eight. He's faced nine current Brewers at least ten times. One is Randy Wolf, who he likely won't face, but here are the other eight:

Player PA AVG OBP SLG OPS
Prince Fielder 34 .308 .382 .654 1.036
Ryan Braun 31 .231 .355 .538 .893
Craig Counsell 30 .240 .367 .360 .727
Jim Edmonds 30 .333 .467 .667 1.133
Corey Hart 29 .115 .207 .231 .438
Rickie Weeks 26 .300 .423 .300 .723
Jody Gerut 12 .273 .333 .364 .697
Casey McGehee 10 .444 .500 .556 1.056

Via Adam McCalvy, we know that Jim Edmonds is getting the start for the 13th 11th time in 16 games:

Rickie Weeks 2B
Carlos Gomez CF
Ryan Braun LF
Prince Fielder 1B
Casey McGehee 3B
Jim Edmonds RF
Gregg Zaun C
Alcides Escobar SS
Jeff Suppan RHP

And in the bullpen:

Trevor Hoffman pitched 1 inning (11 pitches) yesterday.
LaTroy Hawkins pitched 1 inning (11 pitches) Wednesday.
Todd Coffey pitched 1 inning (10 pitches) Wednesday.

Enjoy the game!
