Hopefully the Brewers will score the runs before we all fall asleep tonight.
Tonight's pitcher info + lineups + etc after the jump.
The Brewers are facing John Ely tonight; he's making his 2nd major league start. We Brewers fans know what that means if it's a first major league start (the team acts like there are no scouting reports or video available of PCL and IL pitchers and folds like card tables) but this, after all, is #2. Ely (that's long e, long i, by the way, if Vin Scully is correct) met the Mets last week, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. He threw 116 pitches in that outing, presumably because the Dodgers ran through the 'pen in the previous day's doubleheader. Ely was averaging about 6 IP/start in AAA before being called up. According to this prospect ranking, he's a ground-ball pitcher. He came over to the Dodgers as the PTBNL in the Juan Pierre trade last December.
Dave Bush had a hard loss in his last start against the Padres. Hopefully he won't give up any home runs tonight. In his 5 starts this year, his only win was in the game he didn't give up a home run. (OK, he shut out the Pirates through 7, so that would also explain that.) Bush hasn't been giving up a lot of runs this year, save in the loss to the Cubs. If he holds the Dodgers to 3 runs, he and the win just may be safe...but the record this year doesn't support that.
