Tonight's game verified the old baseball adage, "LaTroy Hawkins should be your 10th inning pitcher in a 9 inning game". The Brewers much maligned bullpen brought home the victory for the Brewers tonight with stellar performances from Villy, Coffey and Hoffy.

Brewers starter Yo Gallardo pitched a solid 5 innings to get his fourth win of the season. Yo struck out 10 D-backs, but walked 4, needing to throw 103 pitches to complete his fifth inning.

Rickie Weeks started the scoring in the 3rd for the Brewers with a homerun off of D-backs starter Edwin Jackson. The Diamondbacks answered back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd, highlighted by Cole Gillespie's first MLB jackshot. Sharp readers, may recognize Gillespie as either a former Brewer farmhand, or confuse him with a jazz legend with huge cheeks.

The Brewers tied up the game in the 4th, on a Jim Edmonds solo blast, and then took the lead in the 5th when Ryan Braun scored on Edwin Jackson's wild pitch.

Carlos Villanueva entered the game in the 6th inning and pitched 2 scoreless frames. Todd Coffey pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Trevor Hoffman recorded his 596th save when he got Justin Upton to hit into a 5-4-3 double play.
