So this is what winning a series against the Twins feels like.
The Brewers found a way to win tonight despite the fact that Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee went a combined 0-for-10. Rickie Weeks was the driving force behind the Brewer offense tonight, going 3-for-5 with a walk and accounting for all five Brewer runs, scoring two and driving in three. Corey Hart was also on base three times, and drove in a run with a double.
Manny Parra came an out away from a quality start tonight, leaving a fair amount of work to do. He allowed two runs on seven hits during his 5.2 innings, striking out seven and walking two. Zach Braddock, Kameron Loe, Carlos Villanueva and combined to pitch 2.1 scoreless to get the game to the ninth, allowing nothing on three hits, striking out four and walking none.
The Brewers scored their fifth run to make it a three run lead with two outs in the eighth, causing something of a scramble in the Brewer bullpen: John Axford, who pitched two innings yesterday, had been warming but the three run lead was apparently the situation the Brewers wanted for Trevor Hoffman, who suddenly started to scramble to get ready. He wasn't ready in time, so Axford entered and walked Matt Tolbert, retired Denard Span and Orlando Hudson, gave up an RBI double to Joe Mauer, and struck out Justin Morneau to record his sixth save.
