Follow us after the jump for tonight's pitching matchup, lineup and more!

Dave Bush (4.75 ERA, 5.15 FIP) is getting one of his final chances to show the Brewers (and other teams) something before becoming eligible for free agency after the season. His last start was nothing to write home about: He allowed six runs to the Astros on five hits over 4.1 innings, walking one and striking out three in a game the Brewers eventually won. Interestingly enough, Bush was perfect through four innings, but allowed all the damage in a fifth inning meltdown.

Somehow, despite the fact that Bush is making his 30th start tonight he has not faced the Reds this season. He did, however, face the Reds twice in 2009 and went 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA in 8.2 innings. Four Reds have faced Bush ten times or more:

Player PA AVG OBP SLG OPS
Brandon Phillips 32 .290 .313 .419 .732
Jim Edmonds 14 .462 .500 1.385 1.885
Scott Rolen 14 .200 .286 .300 .586
Joey Votto 11 .333 .455 .889 1.343

Edinson Volquez (4.99 ERA, 4.55 FIP) is making just his eleventh start since rejoining the Reds midseason following Tommy John surgery. Since returning from the DL he's posted disaster starts four times in eleven opportunities, but has been solid in September, allowing three earned runs on just seven hits over 13.2 innings, and striking out 17.

Volquez works in the low-mid 90's, and throws a changeup and curve a combined 40% of the time. The curve has been his only above average pitch this season. One of the rough outings mentioned above was against the Brewers on July 27. In that game, Volquez allowed four earned runs over 3.2 innings, including home runs by Yovani Gallardo and Rickie Weeks. All told, four Brewers have faced him ten times or more:

Player PA AVG OBP SLG OPS
Ryan Braun 15 ..385 .467 .462 .928
Prince Fielder 15 .167 .333 .417 .750
Corey Hart 12 .300 .333 .900 1.233
Craig Counsell 10 .286 .500 .286 .786

Via Adam McCalvy, we know that Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain and Carlos Gomez are all getting the night off tonight:

Rickie Weeks 2B
Corey Hart RF
Ryan Braun LF
Prince Fielder 1B
Casey McGehee 3B
Chris Dickerson CF
Jonathan Lucroy C
Craig Counsell SS
Dave Bush P

And in the bullpen:

Kameron Loe pitched 2 innings (25 pitches) last night.
Jeremy Jeffress pitched 1 inning (10 pitches) last night.
Manny Parra pitched 1 inning (28 pitches) Sunday.
Brandon Kintzler pitched 1 inning (18 pitches) Sunday.
Todd Coffey pitched 1 inning (12 pitches) Sunday.
Mike McClendon pitched .1 innings (12 pitches) Sunday.
Zach Braddock faced one batter (3 pitches) Sunday.
John Axford pitched 1 inning (21 pitches) Saturday.
Trevor Hoffman hasn't pitched since September 7.

Enjoy the game!
