The Brewer bats never really got going tonight. They connected for just three hits and collected four walks against Edinson Volquez over eight innings, and grounded into four double plays to erase most of those baserunners. Francisco Cordero allowed a couple of Little League runs in the ninth, but eventually struck out Carlos Gomez to close the door.

Meanwhile, Dave Bush allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks in just 5.1 innings. He's the first Brewer pitcher to lose 13 games in a season since Victor Santos did it in 2005.

Three Brewer relievers (Todd Coffey, Mike McClendon and Manny Parra) combined to pitch 3.2 scoreless innings to finish off the game. They struck out nine of the 12 batters they faced, including six straight at one point.

Chris Dickerson, getting a relatively rare start in center, went 0-for-2 and left the game with a strained hamstring.

Just 22,761 fans paid to see tonight's contest, a new season low.
