Today In Brewer History: And So It Ended

This day in 2008 is likely a painful memory for many Brewer fans, as the season came crashing to a halt with a 6-2 loss to the Phillies on a Sunday afternoon at Miller Park.

The Brewers had dropped both games in Philadelphia to fall behind 0-2 in the series, but had taken the first home game one day earlier. On this day, though, their pitching deficiencies were too much to overcome: Jeff Suppan allowed five runs (on three home runs) in the first three innings in one of the outings many Brewer fans continue to hold against him, and the Brewers failed to score until Prince Fielder's solo home run in the seventh inning.

The Phillies, meanwhile, went on to beat the Dodgers in the NLCS and the Rays in the World Series.
