Highlights and thoughts after the jump, including some thoughts on the organizational shortstop situation and the line from Manny Parra's rehab start. In somewhat related matters, Lorenzo Cain went 0 for 3 for Omaha.
Matt Cline has shown up in the highlights again. I'll admit my highlights for batters are picked via the day's OBP, so if a guy has the hot hand he'll show up. I didn't know much about him at all before picking up the Minor League Notes here (I'll also be the first to admit that I'm not your go-to person for prospect info; AAA lifers maybe, but prospects, no) but he really hasn't been on the general prospect radar, as far as I can tell. He was a 22nd-round draft pick by the Brewers in 2007 out of California State-Long Beach. He's 25 years old; this is his 1st season at AA. He missed all of the 2009 season on the restricted list. I'm not sure if this was a failed attempt at quitting the game or not; there isn't much info out there. He's played most of his games at shortstop, with a nearly equal amount of both second base and third base.
The org's starting pitching appears to be finally shaking off its bugs in the second week for the most part. I'm a little bit worried about Cody Scarpetta's pitch count in terms of numbers of innings pitched, but you can't argue much about today's results. I'm worried about Maverick Lasker, period. Let's see how his start #3 will turn out.
