So that's what $105 million buys you these days.
Ryan Braun played his first game tonight since signing his new contract extension and immediately started living up to it, going 3-for-4 with a three run home run and a walk, scoring twice. Braun has now reached base in each of the Brewers' first 19 games.
Yovani Gallardo wasn't quite himself again tonight, but thankfully it didn't matter. He allowed four runs on eight hits over six innings, walking just one and striking out a season-high seven. He also hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot.
Rickie Weeks left the game in the seventh inning with what appeared to be some kind of hand injury. Craig Counsell took his place in the field. Weeks was diagnosed with a sprained left pinkie finger.
Elsewhere in injury news, LaTroy Hawkins made his 2011 debut, allowing one run while pitching the eighth inning.
Both Astros manager Brad Mills and pitching coach Brad Arnsberg were ejected in the second inning by umpire Joe West. Bench coach Al Pedrique managed the rest of the game.
