Today's Matchup: Brewers (Gallardo) vs. Reds (LeCure)

Hopefully we can have a happy Yovani Day again, because I don't like these blah Yovani Days.

Yovani Gallardo (2-1, 4.88/4.06 ERA/FIP) has not been very good since his two-hitter against the Braves all those weeks ago. Infact, he's been pretty lousy, and confusing as well. Since that start Yo has an 8.27 ERA. He's also been nothing like the Yo we all know. Walks have not been that big of a problem (which they usually are) and strikeouts have been relatively hard to come by (which they usually aren't). However he also has a .426 BABIP, so take that for what you will. He did manage to go six inning in has last start on the 22nd, but they weren't of the 'quality' variety, as he gave up 4 runs to the Astros. In his career against the Reds Yo is 2-3 with a 5.26 ERA. Six Reds have faced Gallardo at least 10 times:

PA slash line
Brandon Phillips 24 .368/.455/.632
Joey Votto 20 .353/.400/.529
Jonny Gomes 14 .182/.357/.455
Jay Bruce 13 .545/.615/.818
Ramon Hernandez 13 .273/.385/.364
Drew Stubbs 12 .333/.500/.889

The Reds will send Sam LeCure (0-1, 4.14/4.77 ERA/FIP) to the mound. LeCure has actually been pretty good this season, but his ERA has been driven up a bit by his last start: 5.1 IP, 5 ER, including 4 home runs. Throughtout his major league career LeCure gives up a fair amount of hits (8.7H/9) and a fair amount of walks (4.0BB/9), but he also strikes out plenty (7.4 K./9). I would make a comment about how these numbers are based on a relatively small sample size, but his major league peripherals are almost exactly in line with his minor league peripherals. In his career against the Brewers LeCure is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA. LeCure has only faced the Crew four times, and only as a reliever. No Brewer has faced LeCure more than four times.
