On this day in 1998, the Brewers were in the middle of one of their best starts in recent memory. After splitting a two game opening series in Atlanta the Brewers would go on to win six of their next seven, including a four game sweep in Florida.
One of those games in Florida was one of the best offensive games of Jose Valentin's career. The Brewer shortstop went 3-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and three home runs, driving in five in a 7-1 Brewer victory.
As power hitters go, Valentin wasn't all that prolific as a Brewer. He hit 90 home runs over eight seasons in Milwaukee, roughly one every 31 plate appearances. With that said, nine of those home runs came in four games. Among players with less than 100 HR hit as a Brewer, only three have more multi-homer games:
Player | HR | Multi-HR Games |
Corey Hart | 98 | 10 |
John Briggs | 80 | 6 |
Rickie Weeks | 89 | 5 |
