Today In Brewer History: Various And Sundry Anniversaries

I couldn't find any Brewer anniversaries worthy of their own post for this morning, but with help from the B-Ref bullpen I did find a small collection of side notes and curiosities:

  • The Brewers and Indians were rained out on this day in 1985, and it was the first major league rainout of the season. The Brewers by themselves have already been rained out three times this season.
  • Jeff Reardon picked up his 300th career save in the Red Sox's 3-0 win over the Brewers on this day in 1991. He finished his career with 367, still the seventh highest total of all time.
  • Elsewhere in statistical accomplishments in Brewer losses, on this day in 1999 Robin Ventura hit grand slams in both games of a doubleheader as the Mets swept the Brewers.
  • Finally, on this day in 2009 Ken Macha and the Brewers busted Cecil Cooper and the Astros on a lineup card mistake, causing them to bat out of order in the first inning. The Astros went on to win the game anyway.
