Today In Brewer History: Going, Going, Geoff

You might not have guessed it, but the three home run games in Brewer history come in streaks. The franchise didn't have their first one until 1979, but then had five over five seasons. They also had seven in four seasons between 2000-03. They've only had 14 in franchise history, but 12 of them came as part of those streaks.

On this day in 2003 the Brewers were nearing the end of one of those golden ages of triplicated taters. Geoff Jenkins, facing off against the Padres, went deep three times in a 10-0 Brewer victory. All eight Brewer position players had a hit in the game. One of them was Richie Sexson, who also homered.

Surprisingly enough, the Brewers haven't had a three homer game since. They've gone the entire major league careers of Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun without doing it.

Clearly, the Brewers are due. So, if they get three home runs from their left fielder tonight in a 10-0 win against an NL West opponent, remember you heard it here first.
