Win Expectancy Graph and Star of the Game Voting

This looked familiar.

Through three innings tonight, Chris Narveson looked pretty good. Despite allowing a run he faced just eleven batters over the opening frames, and struck out five. The wheels came off in the fourth, unfortunately, as the Reds scored four runs on four hits and a walk. All told, Narveson allowed five runs on five hits and two walks over four innings, striking out seven. Brewer starting pitchers have a total of six outings this season where they've failed to record an out in the fifth inning. Narveson now has three of them.

Pinch hitting for Narveson turned out to be a wise decision. After Narveson had left the game the Brewers hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth and one of them came off the bat of Josh Wilson, hitting for the pitcher. Wilson hadn't hit a home run since September 26 of 2010, and only had two all of last season.

Unfortunately, the offense was done after that inning. Sergio Mitre and the LOLBrewer defense allowed two more runs in the sixth, and the Reds coasted to victory from there.

Nyjer Morgan pinch ran for Corey Hart after a fifth inning single tonight. Hart might still have been feeling the affects of an illness that kept him out of the lineup Saturday and yesterday.
