Today in Brewer History: Happy Birthday, Izzy Alcantara

On this day in 1973, Israel "Izzy" Alcantara was born in Bani, a town in the Dominican Republic. He had cups of coffee in three major league seasons between 2000 and 2002, and his final major league appearance was with the Brewers. He hit .250/.250/.469 in 32 plate appearances, and was released after the season.

Unfortunately, Alcantara will likely always be better known for being the batter in this play, which happened in 2001 while he was a member of the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox:

Alcantara spent most of the rest of his pro career in the Mexican League before retiring in 2007.
