Prince Fielder entered tonight's game third in the NL with 39 walks, and expanded on that total by walking twice more in four plate appearances against the Cubs. Fielder has now drawn a walk in seven straight games, and has ten bases on balls over that stretch. That seven game streak is tied for the ninth longest in franchise history. Here's the top eight:
Player | Start | End | Games |
John Jaha | 4/6/1998 | 4/21/1998 | 9 |
Darryl Hamilton | 4/29/1995 | 5/12/1995 | 9 |
Darrell Porter | 9/6/1975 | 9/13/1975 | 9 |
Prince Fielder | 5/22/2010 | 5/30/2010 | 8 |
Greg Vaughn | 8/10/1993 | 8/16/1993 | 8 |
Larry Hisle | 9/20/1978 | 10/1/1978 | 8 |
Mike Hegan | 5/22/1971 | 6/1/1971 | 8 |
Dave May | 6/29/1970 | 7/5/1970 | 8 |
Each one of these guys had at least one two walk game as part of their streak. Fielder had 14 walks over eight games as part of his 2010 streak.
Fielder's second walk tonight was also the 500th of his career. He's only the fourth Brewer ever to do that, and needs one more to tie Gorman Thomas for third on the franchise all time list.
