Tonight's Matchup: Brewers (Wolf) vs. Mets (Pelfrey)

Well, yesterday was a bit of a disappointment. Let's see if today will be better.

Randy Wolf (4-4, 3.69 ERA, 4.62 FIP) will be starting for the Crew tonight, which probably means that Wil Nieves will be too. In his last time out Wolf turned in another one of his bad starts, following his trend of pitching either awesomely or terribly. He threw five innings against the Marlins and allowed four runs on five hits and two walks, also allowing two home runs. His last start was his shortest since May 11th. Fun fact of the night: Randy Wolf might be a new favorite of plunkeveryone, as he leads the league in HBP with seven. He only hit nine batters all of last year.  Wolf has actually been pretty good in his career against the Mets; he has a record of 12-5 with a 3.27 ERA against. Five Mets have faced Wolf at least 10 times.

Wolf will be facing off against Mike Pelfrey (3-4, 5.56 ERA, 4.91 FIP) and the Mets. The Mets former first round pick is having a bit of a down year, much like his last start, where he allowed seven runs on 10 hits and a walk over five innings against the Pirates. That start might be an aberration though, as Pelfrey has been pretty good since the beginning of May. His April was fairly terrible, but since then he has gone 3-3 with a 4.38 ERA. Which still that good, but it's better than his April line of 1-3 with a 7.39 ERA. One reason for Pelfrey's struggles this year is probably his increased home run rate, which has almost tripled since last year, from .5 to 1.3 this season. In his career against the Crew Pelfrey is 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA. Only two Brewers have faced Pelfrey at least 10 times.
