I've almost forgotten what losing feels like.
The Brewers now have a five game winning streak after a lovely performance by Yovani Gallardo as he did not allow a single earned run in seven innings well allowing just four hits and striking out seven.
After scoring a run in the first via a Corey Hart leadoff homer (Rickie isn't the only one who can do it!), they would go on to score at least one run in every other inning. In the third, Nyjer Morgan drove in Gallardo, who had doubled, with a single into right field. In the fifth, Casey McGehee hit a sac fly to score Ryan Braun, who had reached on an error and advanced to third on a Prince Fielder single. They would score two more after Jonathan Lucroy doubled in Fielder and Yuni Betancourt, who had singled following the McGehee sacrifice. Finally, they finished their scoring with a Fielder solo shot in the seventh.
Along with their home runs, Hart went 4-5 and Prince went 3-4. Lucroy also had three hits as that trio led the offense today.
Alas, the Cardinals managed to squeak by and beat the Cubs 13-5. With the Pirates beginning their slide back into irrelevancy it would be nice if the Cubs could do something right for once, too.
