Many of us were calling for Taylor Green to be called up months ago, and his early major league performance might imply they were right. Green has now played six games as a major leaguer and he has a hit in all of them. He's only the second Brewer ever to do that:
Player | Season | Games |
B.J. Surhoff | 1987 | 7 |
Taylor Green | 2011 | 6 |
It's worth noting that Surhoff picked up his hits over significantly more opportunities: He started six of the seven games in his streak and got two at bats in the other. Green's streak includes four games where he picked up a hit in a pinch hit appearance.
Earlier today I mentioned that Dickie Thon holds this record. Thon actually holds the record for hits in most consecutive games to start a Brewer career, not a major league career. It's 13, set in 1993, and Green is almost halfway there.
