As the end of July approached, the Brewers were getting hot. They entered play on July 30 as winners of four straight, holding a game and a half lead in the NL Central that they would never relinquish. On a Saturday night at Miller Park they beat the Astros 6-2, and the exclamation point was one of the longest homers in Miller Park history:
That ball traveled 471 feet and was clocked traveling 117 mph off Fielder's bat, the fastest recorded speed by a Brewer hitter in 2011.
This was the fourth ball Fielder has hit more than 470 feet in his career. We'll look at another one on Monday.
