Today In Brewer History: Happy Anniversary, Corey Koskie

On this day in 2006, the Brewers looked to shore up the third base position by acquiring veteran Corey Koskie from the Blue Jays for minor league pitcher Brian Wolfe. Koskie was 32 and a veteran of eight major league seasons, all but one of which were spent with the Twins.

Koskie was a career .277/.369/.455 hitter when the Brewers picked him up, but injuries had limited him to just 97 games in his lone season in Toronto. He was off to a great start in Milwaukee when an injury derailed him again: He left his 76th game as a Brewer with a concussion and due to complications in his recovery he hasn't played in the majors since. He attempted a comeback with the Cubs in spring training 2009 but was still experiencing dizziness.

Meanwhile, at the time of the deal Brian Wolfe was a seven year minor league veteran reliever. He went on to post a 3.81 ERA in 72 relief appearances as a Blue Jay over three seasons, and has spent the last two years pitching for Japan's Nippon Ham Fighters.

With help from Brewerfan.net, happy birthday today to Wisconsin Timber Rattler Jameson Dunn. He turns 25.
