The LCS round continues tonight as one team puts their season on the line and one other team plays a game that seems less important when compared to that.
We'll start with the less important contest as the Giants travel to St. Louis to play Game 3 of the NLCS against the Cardinals (series tied 1-1). Noted career year-haver Kyle Lohse (2.86 ERA, 3.51 FIP regular season, 2.13 ERA, 3.88 FIP postseason) will take on Matt Cain (2.79 ERA, 3.40 FIP regular season, 5.06 ERA, 6.47 FIP postseason).
Fun facts:
- Carlos Beltran leads all players with 12 hits and five doubles and is tied for the lead with three home runs this postseason. Pablo Sandoval has eight hits to lead the Giants.
- Giants teammates Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner are tied for the major league lead with three home runs allowed this postseason. Cain is also tied for fifth with six earned runs allowed.
Then at 7 our attention will likely shift to Detroit, where the Tigers (leading series 3-0) could clinch a berth in the World Series with a win over the Yankees. They'll send Max Scherzer (3.74 ERA, 3.27 FIP regular season, 0.00 ERA, 0.66 FIP postseason) to face CC Sabathia (3.38 ERA, 3.33 FIP regular season, 1.53 ERA, 1.79 FIP postseason).
Fun facts:
- Since scoring seven runs against the Orioles in ALDS Game 1, the Yankees have scored more than three runs in just one of their last seven games. They scored four or more runs in 110 of their 162 regular season games.
- The Tigers are 6-2 this postseason despite having his just four home runs. Two of them came from Delmon Young.
Today's NLCS game will be on Fox, while the ALCS game will be on TBS.
