About a week after we witnessed 20 out of 20 possible games in the Division Series round, it's possible we could see just one game over the minimum played in the LCS round.
The NLCS could end tonight in St. Louis when the Cardinals (leading series 3-1) try to close out the Giants at 7. They'll send Lance Lynn (3.78 ERA, 3.49 FIP regular season, 8.59 ERA, 7.59 FIP postseason) to face Barry Zito (4.15 ERA, 4.49 FIP regular season, 6.75 ERA, 9.47 FIP postseason).
Fun facts:
- This is Barry Zito's ninth career playoff start, but only his second since 2006. He made playoff starts in four straight seasons between 2000-03.
- Hunter Pence and Buster Posey are a combined 12-for-68 (batting .176) this postseason.
- Yadier Molina is hitting .189/.302/.216 this October with one extra base hit in 37 at bats.
- Carlos Beltran hasn't played since getting hurt in Game 3 of this series but is still tied for the MLB lead with 12 hits this postseason.
Tonight's game will be broadcast on Fox.
