Ryan Braun Nominated For MLBPA Players' Choice Award

He, Andrew McCutchen and Buster Posey are nominated for NL Outstanding Player

Benny Sieu-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

From an MLBPA press release:

Major League baseball players today announced the finalists for their highest honors – the Players Choice Awards – in which the players themselves recognize excellence on and off the field.

There are three nominees for the NL's Outstanding Player Award: Ryan Braun, Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen and Giants catcher Buster Posey.

Braun could be the Brewers' first NL Outstanding Player since Prince Fielder in 2007. This award and the NL MVP have gone to the same player in just two of the last five seasons. Matt Kemp won the MLBPA's award in 2011, while Braun won the NL MVP.

Nominees were also announced for Outstanding Pitcher (Red Johnny Cueto, Met R.A. Dickey and National Gio Gonzalez), Outstanding Rookie (Red Todd Frazier, National Bryce Harper and Diamondback Wade Miley) and Comeback Player (National Adam LaRoche, Red Ryan Ludwick and Giant Buster Posey). No Brewers were nominated for any of those awards, with Norichika Aoki being the most notable snub.

The awards will be announced on MLB Network on Monday, November 5 between 8 and 9 pm.
