Fun Facts: NLCS Game 6

The Giants have managed to hold off the Cardinals once, but can they do it again tonight?

Christian Petersen

Hey, at least the Giants held on long enough to send the series back to San Francisco.

For the second straight game the Giants face elimination in the NLCS, but at least tonight they'll be at home as they host the Cardinals (leading series 3-2) at 6:30. Ryan Vogelsong (3.37 ERA, 3.70 FIP regular season, 1.50 ERA, 3.09 FIP postseason) will take on Chris Carpenter (3.71 ERA, 4.09 FIP regular season, 1.86 ERA, 5.06 FIP postseason).

(Sometimes) Fun Facts:

  • The Cardinals also won Game 6 of the NLCS on the road to advance to the World Series last season.
  • Ryan Vogelsong has pitched 13 professional seasons (including 2007-09 in Japan) but all three of his MLB postseason starts have come this season.
  • Because of their Wild Card playoff win and five game NLDS series against the Nationals, tonight is the Cardinals' 12th postseason game. They tied a major league record by appearing in 18 postseason games last season, and have a chance to break that record this season.

Tonight's game will be seen on Fox.
