Japanese outfielder Norichika Aoki will finish somewhere outside the top three when the BBWAA announces their Rookie of the Year Awards tonight, and he's also just outside the top three in our SB Nation Awards, voted on by two contributors from each team site and others from around the network.
Aoki received third place votes on 14 ballots, finishing behind Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, Diamondbacks pitcher Wade Miley and Reds utilityman Todd Frazier. Here are the full results:
Player | Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bryce Harper | Washington Nationals | 26 | 9 | 157 | |
Wade Miley | Arizona Diamondbacks | 8 | 21 | 5 | 108 |
Todd Frazier | Cincinnati Reds | 1 | 4 | 9 | 26 |
Norichika Aoki | Milwaukee Brewers | 14 | 14 | ||
Zack Cozart | Cincinnati Reds | 1 | 2 | 5 | |
Andrelton Simmons | Atlanta Braves | 1 | 1 | ||
Anthony Rizzo | Chicago Cubs | 1 | 1 | ||
Lucas Harrell | Houston Astros | 1 | 1 | ||
Mike Fiers | Milwaukee Brewers | 1 | 1 | ||
Yasmani Grandal | San Diego Padres | 1 | 1 |
As you can see, Aoki and Frazier were named on the same number of ballots but Frazier received five votes above third place, while Aoki received none.
Meanwhile, Mike Fiers snuck onto one ballot with a third place vote. If the BBWAA repeats these results today, it will only be the fourth time ever two Brewers have received votes for the award.
